I remember mom fixing farina cereal for us on cold mornings when I was growing up.   It always hit the spot
before heading out to school.  It is still popular today and a much better alternative to cold cereals that are
loaded with artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners.

Today’s Farina, probably better known as Cream Of Wheat, is much like the cereal we used to eat as kids.  
Only today we dress it up a little differently.

Below is the way I top one of my favorite hot cereals, farina, with yummy nutritional additions.

I start by cooking the farina according to the package directions.  Once opened,  I generally remove the
cereal from the original package and store it in a glass canister as pictured below.


After it is done (about 5 minutes) I add my favorite toppings:

1 Tablespoon ground flax seed

1 Teaspoon Chia Seeds

1/2 Teaspoon cinnamon

A sprinkle of sea salt

Sweetened to taste – either maple syrup, honey, Luo Han Guo, organic sugar or sweetener of your choice

Mix it all up, add a little milk, and you have wonderful hot cereal for those cold mornings even the most
finicky eaters will love!
